Law of Noncontradiction

One of the three laws of thought, which simply put, states that a proposition and its negation cannot be held to be true simultaneously and in the same sense.

• Formally, for proposition $P$, $\neg (P\wedge \neg P)$. Note that this expression is a tautology.
